Our process

In order to achieve the best results, we use the latest Counteract Balancing Beads to ensure accurate motorcycle tyre balancing. Counteract Balancing Beads for motorcycles provide an automatic, readjusting, trouble-free and lifetime balance to the tyre, and complete wheel assembly for all wheel locations.

When Counteract Balancing Beads are installed inside a motorcycle tyre, the specially coated micro-spheres are distributed throughout the tyre through centrifugal force as the wheel rotates.

As the force of the out-of-balance spot increases and pulls the suspension in an up-and-down motion, the inertia causes the beads to move in the opposite direction and rapidly shift until complete wheel assembly is balanced.

They won’t cause damage to the inside lining of the motorcycle tyre and won’t clump together if there is too much excess moisture. The Counteract Balancing Beads we use are also completely compatible with TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems).

In addition, our tyre alignment shop uses computerised balancing technology to scan and analyse the run-out of each wheel. This ensures the ideal balance with the least amount of weight while also eliminating any unnecessary vibrations when out on the road.

Difference Between Wheel Alignment and Tyre Balancing

Wheel balancing and wheel alignment are crucial for maintaining the performance, safety, and longevity of your motorcycle’s tyres. Both services play vital roles in tyre care but address different aspects of how your bike interacts with the road.

Wheel Balancing

Wheel balancing ensures that the weight of the tyre and wheel assembly is evenly distributed around the axle. When a motorcycle’s wheels are unbalanced, it can lead to vibrations, uneven tyre wear, and reduced handling precision. During balancing, our technicians use a specialised tyre balancing machine to identify any imbalance and correct it by adding small weights or adjustments.

A quality motorcycle tyre balancer enhances rider comfort and prevents undue stress on your motorcycle’s suspension system. It’s typically recommended whenever new tyres are fitted or when noticeable vibrations occur, especially at higher speeds.

Wheel Alignment

Wheel alignment focuses on the position and angle of the wheels relative to each other and the motorcycle’s frame. Misaligned wheels can cause uneven tyre wear, poor handling, and increased fuel consumption. At our motorcycle shop, Melbourne riders can ensure quality alignment, which involves adjusting the wheels to the manufacturer’s specifications to ensure they’re parallel and properly positioned.

Unlike balancing, alignment is often checked less frequently but is essential after incidents like hitting a pothole or if the motorcycle’s handling feels off. Proper alignment maximises tyre contact with the road, ensuring better grip and longer tyre life.

How much does wheel balancing cost?

The cost of wheel balancing can vary depending on the type of motorcycle and specific requirements. At Tyreman M/C, we pride ourselves on offering competitive and transparent pricing for our tyre balancing services. Contact us directly for an accurate quote tailored to your bike’s needs.

How often should motorcycle tyres be balanced?

Motorcycle tyres should ideally be balanced every time a new tyre is installed or after any significant wear or damage to the tyre. Regular checks, such as every 5,000 to 10,000 kilometres or during scheduled maintenance, can also help ensure optimal performance and reduce uneven tyre wear.

Can Tyreman balance both front and rear motorcycle tyres?

Absolutely! Our technicians are equipped to balance your motorcycle tyres with advanced equipment and techniques. We ensure each wheel is perfectly balanced to provide a smooth, safe, and enjoyable riding experience.

When should you replace motorcycle tyres?

Motorcycle tyres should be replaced when their performance, tread depth, or overall condition no longer ensures safe riding. Here are the key signs it’s time for a replacement:

  • If the tread is worn down to the legal limit (usually 1.5 mm for most motorcycles), the tyres need replacing. Many tyres have built-in wear indicators to help you assess their condition.
  • Look for uneven patterns like cupping or bald spots. These often result from underinflation, misalignment, or suspension issues, indicating the tyre’s performance is compromised.
  • Even if the tread looks fine, tyres should typically be replaced every 5–7 years. Over time, the rubber hardens and loses flexibility, reducing grip and performance. Check the manufacturing date on the tyre’s sidewall to confirm its age.
  • Cuts, cracks, or bulges in the tyre can be dangerous and often mean the tyre has weakened structurally. If you notice any damage, it is crucial that you replace the tyre immediately.
